• The Inception Meeting of the SPINCAM II Project will take place in Santiago, Chile, 5-6 November 2012. 

The Inception Meeting of SPINCAM II will be the occasion to reach a common understanding of the project objectives and to provide inputs and finalise the project workplans  and budget for the next three years. It is expected that the National SPINCAM Focal points, Technical Focal points and IODE Focal points will present the project coordination mechanism to be put in place in each country. The plenary will also be the occasion to report and demonstrate the outcomes of the first phase and to discuss weaknesses that needs to be addressed in the second phase. Recommendations emerging from the Inception meeting will be reviewed and endorsed by the Steering Committee meeting, which will take place on the 7th November 2012.

¤ The SPINCAM CONFERENCE took place the 31st May in Lima (Peru) with the aim to establish a regional dialog with decision-makers about how to strengthen the collaboration and investment in marine-coastal systems in support of national and regional policies and to remark the project contribution to coastal area management at both national and regional level (Report in English, in Spanish)The Steering Committee met on the 1st of June to plan the second phase of the project!  The 4rd Meeting of the SPINCAM Committee and the Regional Technical Meeting to evaluate the results and planning on future steps took place in Guayaquil, 30 November - 2 December 2011. The report of the meeting is availble in English (PDF 1.1 Mb) and Spanish (PDF 1.2 Mb)

 


 

The Workshop on Atlas prototype and Repositories took place 31 August - 1 September 2011 in Panama. Report in Spanish (PDF 2.9 Mb)


The Trainning Course on Map Servers and Cartographic Viewers for Atlas Development took place 3-5 May 2011 in Lima, Perú. 


  The SPINCAM Regional Workshop on METADATA to adopt a unified metadata structure and standard paramaters compatible with international regulations took place 1-3 March 2011 in Guayaquil (Ecuador). The objectives of the meeting were:

1. Selection of the unified metadata structure based on the metadata profile of the regional indicators according to standards

2. Selection of the appropriate data sets to develop the Regional Atlas

The 1st SPINCAM Regional Technical Workshop was held the 20-21 October 2009 in Lima (Perú) to evaluate a set of regional indicators. You can find the report (2251 Kb) in Spanish. During the workshop 5 regional indicators were agreed:

    • Marine Protected areas
    • Population dynamics
    • Planning tools and marine-coastal management for integrated coastal zone management
    • Water Quality
    • Biodiversity

 


 

The 2nd meeting of the Steering Committee of SPINCAM took place the 22 October after the 1st SPINCAM Technical Regional Meeting. Taking into account the outputs of the regional workshop, the activities, timeline and budget of the different Work Packages were updated. New activties were defined for WP2 (Information and Data Management) and the timeline was adjusted considering the possibilities of each country. Trainning courses were planned in addition to new regional workshops (for more details see the "Work Packages" section ).
